Marty's Recent Ramblings

Originally posted:  March 22, 2007

I'm pleased to tell you that my attempt at putting my web log on Facebook and Myspace went off without a hitch. I don't know what could have possibly went wrong with the merger, but nothing went wrong.

Speaking of Facebook, it's making a comeback. It probably had no comeback to make, it's just making a comeback in my amount of usage. I've been a member of Facebook longer than Myspace. My Facebook usuage when I started was extremely high. Then it started to slow down and it seemed like everyone elses did too. Facebook was dead.

I was on to Myspace. It's been Myspace ever since. I still occasionally checked Facebook, but not often. I even went a couple months without ever thinking about Facebook, let alone logging on. Myspace was all right, but it's peak was never as high as Facebook's peak. I was missing something in my life.

That takes me to last month, or maybe two months. However long it was that's where I'm going right now. I finally realized that I was missing something in my life. That's where Facebook comes in. Facebook wasn't what I was missing in my life, but that's how I chose to manifest what was missing and is still missing in my life.

It was like a whole new world had opened up. It was still Facebook but it was so different. I knew about all the changes and additions, but I had never really used them. Facebook was just as good as it was at it's peak. It makes me wonder whether or not it's peak ever left. Did I get out to early? What kind of Facebook fun had I missed? Myspace is so lame.

But I'm never going to make that mistake again. My Facebook participation is back in full force. I still participate in Myspace related activities, but I don't like it.

Facebook is the way to go. There are so many positives going for it and there is so many negatives of Myspace. I'm sick of getting all the friend requests on Myspace from sluts who just want me to view their web cam. I don't get those on Facebook. I don't even get friend requests on Facebook. Facebook benefit number one.

Then there is the whole top friends thing. Don't get me wrong, the idea of top friends is a great concept in theory. It's just gotten out of hand. What is it, like 96 top friends Myspace allows now? Ok we get it now, you have some frineds that are better friends than some of your other friends. Well, so does everyone else so shut up. The top friend thing just creates drama anyways. People get mad when they are not on there and they get mad when then are 10 instead of 2. Well guess what, there is a reason you aren't number to, so stop complaining. Facebook benefit number 2.

Pictures, this isn't evena contest. Sure you're allowed 300 pictures on Myspace now, thanks to the movie 300, but I remember Tom promising albums in the near future. Where's are our albums Tom? Where are those, huh? You know how many pictures you're allowed on Facebook? No, nobody knows 'cause its such a big number. You know what else Facebook has? Picture tags. I don't have to go to all the trouble of putting up pictures of me. Someone puts up a picture of me and bam! They tag me and every can enjoy. Facebook benefit 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Web logs. This one is a pretty tightly contested race. No wait, it isn't. I forgot that you can put a picture in with your web log on Facebook. Sure you can do that on Myspace too, but it isn't as easy. Facebook also lets you tag people you mention in your web log, so that they know they are in it.

You know what, I'm going to just start mentioning people just so I can tag them. Nathan Copier, Kenny Reid, Matt Snarr, RJ Shumate, Kami Bodily, Blaire Snell, Ali Evenson, Erik Sibbernsen. Let me know if you are angry that I didn't include you. I can tag you next time, unless you are reading this on Myspace. Because Myspace web logs are lame and I can't tag you. Facebook benifit whatever number I'm on.

I could go on with Facebook benefits, but we'll just do two more.

Profile songs. These are cool. At first I thought this was a Myspace benefit, but then I thought about it harder. Most of the time the songs are just a nuisance. I'm very rarely not listenting to music when browsing. I hate when I go to someones profile and their song starts interfering with my music. Facebook benefit one number higher than whatever number it was last time.

The only bad thing about Facebook I could find is the news feed. Why is that needed. It's just plain creepy. Sure it's useful, but I can do my stalking without your help Facebook. But Myspace doesn't even have a news feed so Facebook wins. Facebook benefit, who cares anymore.
